Common Feline Health Issues and Concerns
How to have a healthy cat, inside and out.
Fleas and intestinal parasites are the two most common issues cat owners contend with. Luckily, you can easily diagnosis and address both.
Skin safety. Most common feline skin disorders are caused by external parasites, like fleas, ticks, lice and mites. Common signs include intense itching, red crusty lesions, scaly skin or areas of baldness.
The right cure. Although your vet can help you decide on treatment and control strategies, makes sure any flea spray, dip or power is formulated just for cats.
Tummy trouble. cats are the favorite nesting grounds of some groups of worms and a few species of microscopic protozoa. Your vet can diagnose intestinal parasites with a fecal sample—and prescribe proper medication.
A safe home. Assume your cat will get into anything and everything if you let him. Keep him safe by watching out for tempting but dangerous hiding places, such as recliner chairs and the dryer.
