Leave a treat for Sunshine

Nicknames: Sunshine, Sunny, Grandma, Granny Cat

Quick Bio:
| -purebred | -pound cat | -cat rescue | |
 Coloration: Cream

Arrival Story: Sunshine landed in our local AC when her owner moved to assisted living. I pulled her for a special needs group that wanted her because we were told she was only 4 years old, & even with her diabetes, they felt they could adopt her out. When I discovered her real age & told them, they said they no longer wanted her, & suggested I return her to AC!!! AC would have killed her at that point, & I wasn't about to let that happen!

Bio: Her diabetes has cleared up because of the discontinued steroidal treatments, but unfortunately, we have also learned that the long term effects of the steroids have caused her irreversible kidney damage. Her allergies have returned as well, so it wasn't just the collar dye, & she's patchy again, & because of the kidney damage, is also now thin, but she's happy, with a great appetite & zest for life, so she will live out her life here with us. We love her dearly, & appreciate her for who she is.

I ended up with this nice family, but how did I get here? Good question. I lived my whole life with my first Mom, until something went wrong about 2 months ago. I guess since my first Mom was older too, she got sick & couldn't take care of me by herself. She asked her friend to try & help find me a home. So her friend took me to a rescue group in St. Augustine & they let me stay for the day at their adoption day. I was VERY scared & stayed shivering in the back of the cage. Needless to say, no one wanted me when they could have cute, friendly kittens. Eventually, they took my Mom away, & packed me up & took me to the scary place, where I was put in yet another cage, but this time in a quieter room, kind of reminded me of the vet's office. I stayed there for a week. At the end of the week, a nice lady came in, looked at me, & talked to me. She said she was getting me out of there. They packed me up in my carrier, & I came home with her. I stayed in a bigger cage in the sunroom for a few days, till I got used to all the other cats, the dog, & met the rest of the people family. My new Mom gave me a bath to get the gray off me from the newspapers I'd been sitting on at the scary place, & to help my itching neck. She got rid of the collar, so I don't itch anymore, & my coat is light, silky, & fluffy again.
Now I have the run of the house, although I prefer to still sleep in bed with Mom!
