Arrival Story: I was found and rescued from the streets of Arlington, MA. From there, I went and stayed at a friendly no-kill shelter in Cambridge, MA that was full of kitties! While there, I met a huge poof ball Maine Coon named Thornton, who I quickly became best friends with. We were then adopted together in January! I love treats! Please give me one!!

Bio: You can see my cousins, Bodie and Mamie, below in my list of friends! Lots of people ask me where I got my name, Nimbus. I'm not really sure, but I think I have a pretty good idea. As you know, my friend Thornton was very shy and scared very easily. Which is why you might call me a saint (Nimbus) for what I was to him. I feel like I really helped Thornton get through the ordeal of being abandoned, getting rescued, living in a shelter, and then being adopted into a new home. He was still shy but seemed to be adjusting with my help. He really was a nice guy! Or I could just be named after a dumb cloud...Unfortunately, my best friend Thornton passed away Sunday, April 21, 2007. I will miss him dearly. It has been difficult since then, but I have continued to be a happy and playful cat in spite of this terrible loss. I've been very supportive of my owners in coping with the loss of Thornton. He will never be forgotten. After a going through a difficult time, I was introduced to Millie who was adopted in May 2007 and she is now my new best freind. We love to bird watch and play throughout the night. I still miss Thornton, and sometimes I feel like he is still in the house. But Millie and I have become great companions and I think we will be happy together.

In Loving Memory...: Sadly, Nimbus's best friend, Thornton, passed away in our home during in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 22, 2007. He was approximately 9 months old. The cause of his passing was Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). FIP is almost impossible to diagnose or treat. Thornton spent his last day, Saturday, napping with his best friend Nimbus and myself on the bed. It had been raining for three weeks straight prior to then, and the three of us were fortunate enough to spend our last day together soaking up the rays of the afternoon sun. The bottom picture on this page was from the last set of pictures of Thornton, taken a week before his passing. Thornton was a scared but very sweet cat and his character and spirit will live on forever. Our only hope is that he was happy in our home for the short time he was there, and that he passed knowing that every minute of his company was cherished. We will miss him dearly and he will never be forgotten. I am glad Thornton passed away in our home instead of on the street where he had been abandoned. He was surrounded by love and attention which is the one thing that has helped us cope. Let this be a reminder of all that we have in life and what we may be taking for granted. Whether it be your four-legged fur ball on the floor or the person sitting next to you on the couch...For more information on the subject of FIP, CLICK HERE.
